The United States of America is a relatively young country compared to the ancient civilizations of Asia, Europe, Africa, and South America.  If one were to count the colonial settlements in North America, the U.S. is only 400 years old.  Yet, the complexities of the ancient world are apparent in the diverse cultures and traditions of modern America. The purpose of this web-site is to guide one through the history of the United States from the development of the colonies to modern day America.
